DESCRIPTION:Did you know that Williamstown was a health resort for the working classes in the early 20th century? \nOn this gentle 2 km wander\, learn about the history and health benefits of the Williamstown Botanic Gardens. Nestled by the sea\, the Williamstown Botanic gardens provide the opportunity to discover early Victorian garden design from the 1860s\, including many rare and significant trees. \nThe walk will then take in the Esplanade providing discussion about the fashion for sea baths and beach entertainments. \nThere will be the opportunity to enjoy the fresh sea breezes of Port Phillip Bay (Naarm) with some nature interpretation and a short walk along the coastline finishing near some cafes and eateries. (Swimming is optional!) \nMeet at gates on corner of Giffard and Osbourne streets 10 mins before. \nBookings essential – Call 9932 3016 or email visitorinformation@hobsonsbay.vic.gov.au \nThe guided 2km walk will be along accessible footpaths and gravel pathways through Williamstown Botanic gardens and part of the walk will be undertaken on unmade pathways near coastline.
