Across Victoria historical societies, heritage groups, individuals, tourist attractions, local councils, schools, historic houses and libraries all embraced History Week and offered great events. Not all the events were public but, without doubt, they all added to our understanding and love of Victoria’s history.
The response was so overwhelming that, from 2020, we will expand History Week into History Month which will cover the whole of October from now on.
One happy participant said on Facebook, “This was The Best History week! So interesting! I learnt so much and in such a lively and unforgettable way. Never have enjoyed FB so much. Thank you to all who made this happen”. This was in response to Gippsland History’s Facebook based marathon event publishing the stories of the people in the local Gippsland cemeteries.
