Explore the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons Museum

Themes explored in the Museum include the history of surgery, from the time of the arrival of Europeans in the Asia-Pacific region including the development of surgical technology; eminent surgeons of the past and their discoveries. This includes the founders of the College, women surgeons, naval surgeons, surgeons in conflict zones, the surgical specialties and the history of the College’s formation.
On display are historical surgical instruments; objects from the history of all the surgical specialties; items that tell the story of College traditions; and items related to public health campaigns.
The Museum is located on the lower ground floor, south wing of the Melbourne building. It is open to the public 10am–2pm, Monday and Tuesday. A gold coin donation is appreciated for a museum visit.
