Grand, Old Moonee Ponds Heritage Walk

Step back in time on this guided heritage walk, exploring the grand mansions of Essendon and Moonee Ponds. 

The walk will have a Guide and a booklet will also be provided.with the Essendon Historical Society.

Wander the streets of Moonee Ponds and uncover the stories behind the grand homes of Park Street and Leslie Road with the Essendon Historical Society. This guided walking tour reveals a rich local history of wealth, railways and architecture. Visitors will hear about opulent family homes which line Park Street and Leslie Road. The walk will explore how grand homes have came to find new purposes – including Earlsbrae which stands at the centre of Lowther Hall, Gillespie’s Mansion which became St Columba’s College and PEGS’s Wahgunyah – while others have since vanished from our suburb.
