Traditional Crafts and Trades open day
15th October, 10:00 am - 2:30 pm
$1 – $2
History is in skilled hands at Old Gippstown this October.
As part of the Positive Ageing Festival and History Month, we’re inviting you to spend a day watching traditional crafts and trades brought to life throughout the park.
Join us on Thursday, 15 October, from 10am to 2.30pm to see our heritage guides and craftspeople demonstrate:
• Crochet and hand sewing
• Spinning and weaving
• The use of lace bobbins
• Treadle sewing
• Blacksmithing at the forge
• Traditional woodworking
• Wagon restoration
Beyond the demonstrations, explore historic buildings dating from 1840 to 1930 and discover thousands of artefacts reflecting how Gippslanders lived and worked.
Come along, meet the people keeping these skills alive and discover more of Gippsland’s history at Old Gippstown Heritage Park, plenty of off-road car parking, long vehicle parking and EV chargers. Entry is by gold coin donation.
